The charity took over on 1 April 2017 from the previous unincorporated charity no 1040942 set up in 1994 to preserve and maintain Dulwich Picture Gallery and its collection for the enjoyment of the public, mount art exhibitions and displays, and run a programme of public events and educational activities.
