• “The Trust secured an interview from CWaC with regard to its proposal to open a Presumption Free School in Chester. However, despite producing a robust, well-received and convincing application, the Trust was not selected by the local authority to open the school.”
• “In spring 2025, and after significant consideration, the Trustees and Trust executive decided that the aim to grow the Trust from its present secure and effective position was not tenable, in part due to local and national conditions and also due to the favouring of other trusts in the Diocesan academies' strategy. At an extraordinary meeting of the Trust board in April 2025, it was decided that the Trust would proceed with seeking an alternative Trust for its three schools. After a thorough period of due diligence, it was decided that Chester Diocesan Academies Trust would offer the best destination for the Samara schools, based on three main tenets: financial stability; support for the Christian Distinctiveness of the schools; a strong school improvement offer. During summer 2025, approval was sought and obtained for transfer of the schools and the winding up of The Samara Trust from all required bodies, including final approval by the DfE at its Regional Advisory Board meeting held on 17th July 2025. A target date for transfer has been established as 1st December 2025 and work will proceed during autumn 2025 to effect this.”
