- “The weak market that characterised the second half of 2023 continued through 2024, with the rod and bar markets particularly heavily affected. In addition, high import penetration, particularly from India, increased price pressure. This generally poor level of economic activity impacted also the flat products market and in turn demand for slabs. In the summer, there was an uptick in demand, but this was the temporary result of increased alloy prices and interruptions in supply through industrial action at two major European producers. Poor trading conditions resumed in Q4.”
