• “The year ended 31 October 2024 represented another challenging year for the group. Both the pubs and brewery businesses battled significant cost pressures, specifically in respect of business rates, utilities and employee costs. By way of illustration, the 9.8% National Living Wage increase of 1 April 24 added £1.2m of cost into the business. The group's ability to pass these cost increases on to customers was hindered by the cost of living crisis.”
• “As we progress through FY25, the operating environment remains exceptionally challenging, with huge cost increases resultant from further National Living wage increases and significant changes to National Insurance. However, the directors are confident the group has a strong team in place to overcome the significant headwinds highlighted above, many of these resultant from a fundamental lack of hospitality industry support from both the UK and Scottish Government.
