  In the unlikely event CEG were to call in any part of the facility or not extend the facility there would be a material uncertainty over the continued stability of the University, and the Trustees have OfS compliant teach-out plans in place and reserves ringfenced in Richmond Education Foundation for this purpose. Significant events

• “The financial year 2024/25 saw further work on turnaround issues and the completion of objectives in the Strategic Plan, in particular continued improvement to operations in Finance and in Marketing and Recruitment, and a voluntary severance programme to reduce staffing costs. There was a major revision of the academic portfolio (with effect from September 2025) which will result in reduced costs, more efficient use of the estate, and is expected to improve student retention and progression. Following a review of costs a decision was taken to close the US recruitment office and transfer its activities to the UK. There was a change in government in both the UK and the US, with important implications for the University. Strong headwinds continued to impact student recruitment. Changes to immigration rules were especially challenging and new markets (such as Nepal) delivered less quickly than expected. These issues were compounded by student financial difficulties resulting in increased late payment and debt, resulting in increased provisions during the year.”
